Vermont Building Energy Standards Update
As per the CBES statute (30 V.S.A. § 53) the Vermont Public Service Department (PSD) is required to review and update the Building Energy Standards soon after the publication of the national model code. This took place late 2017, and as a result, the PSD has begun the stakeholder process to review the model code and develop Vermont specific modifications.
Webinars and Stakeholder Meeting Presentation have already been conducted this summer and the PSD anticipates that additional meetings will be conducted in October 2018. The project timeline for the energy code updates is as follows:
- Public input period July through October 2018
- Draft Residential Building Energy Standards and Commercial Building Energy Standards to be available online or by request September 2018
- Adoption of new Standards and stretch code March 2019 (estimated)
- New Standards and stretch code effective January 2020 (estimated)
