Norwich University Tour & Student Night
November 13 @ 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Tour
Join us for a tour of the mechanical systems of two buildings at Norwich University. Mack Hall is LEED certified and the new home of the School of Business and Management and the Computer Security and Information Assurance (CSIA) program with classrooms, lecture halls, and an auditorium. Come see this state of the art building with Trane performance climate changer air handlers, ERUs with heat transfer wheels, compressor chillers, and more. Next, the University’s Central Heating Plant contains a biomass plant with an electrostatic precipitator to reduce PM emissions.
Student Night
We are specially inviting students from Norwich and VSU to attend this meeting to meet members and hear about what we do. During dinner, we will be encouraging members to talk a little about their work so that graduating students can start thinking about jobs in Vermont.
Directions
VT ASHRAE members should park in the visitor parking lot by Public Safety (Building 40 on left side of map with key by Park Avenue and University Drive) and come to the U-Building to meet in the central lobby by the statue of Capt. Alan Partridge, Norwich University’s founder (in the center of the “U”) by 3:50pm (see #3 on campus map.) From Public Safety, walk by the big white library (#48) and go up the center of the U-building to #3.
We will then walk to Mack Hall, #49 (a 5-minute walk from the U-building) to the mechanical room (on the lowest floor) for the tour to promptly begin at 4pm with Mark Shuttle, and last until 4:30pm.
We will then walk to the Central Heating Plant (the CHP is another 5-minute walk from Mack Hall) and have a tour by Chris Sanden from 4:45pm to 5:15pm. The CHP is below Gerard Hall (#31), look for the big smokestack, and just before Kreitzberg (Ice Hockey) Arena (#47).
We will then walk back to the Wise Campus Center, #73 (another 5-minute walk) and have dinner from 5:30pm to 6:30pm in the faculty & staff dining room on the 2nd floor.
